I got this a while back for my Prism. I didn't realize at the time it was just a faceplate that pushes the application buttons on the Visor, so I was a little disappointed--seems like a lot to pay for that. Still, it was nice for games, making gameplay faster since the joystick appearance is more intuitive for games than the buttons alone. The SnapNType by TT Tech is way better though, it's an actual interface that snaps into the port on the Visor and has a Palm OS driver, rather than just being a button-pusher. Hopefully Amazon will carry that soon!

This was a well built product. The only problem lies with the fact that you are paying [price], for a piece of plastic with buttons that you push to push other buttons. It doesn't really help on all games either - some don't have configuration that work with the d-pad. But if you would like to impress people and if they flaunt their "Game Boy Advance" at you, just get an emulator and you have just one-upped them. Worth a buy if are a gamer.

Oh yeah, It comes with Zap2016! This buy the way, in my opinion, is worth just as much as the gameface if not more.

If you like playing games on your Visor, you will love this piece of plastic. Snaps on & off with easy and gives you that Nintendo GameBoy feel. After years of using keyboard and mouse for games I picked this joystick/pad combination. It's easy to install in Windows XP - plug it into your USB port and it autodetects and installs, then seperate the two halves and it will install a second time as just the pad. Response is fairly good, and you've got two buttons ont he stick, six on the base, along with a throttle sliders, and you can use the pad's directional controller as a 8 way hat switch. The only thing is really lacks is 'twist' controller on the joystick. All in all I'm happy with it, and it's a great deal for the low price.

It works BOTH as a pad and as a stick.
Leave them plugged together and you have stick with trigger, 6 buttons, D-pad and smooooth slider throttle. Oh, and the 2 joypad triggers on the side too. Nicely sculptured comfort to the stick. Left-hand controls for the 6 buttons and D-pad. These you can reconfigure with Saitek's downloadable programming software.
Pull out the pad and you have a regular 2-trigger, 6-button + D-pad pad. A bit angular in its Starwars shape, it sits well in bigger hands.
What happened in the guts when you pulled out the pad? It told the PC that the stick signed out and the pad signed in, and a second later you're ready to go. From then on the stick is an orphan: no cable, no function.
That is, until you want to use the stick again. Plug them together again (one quick push and snap), and the check-in / check-out is reversed.
Clever concept: saves space, wires and a USB port on the desk; gives you more controls for your money; works fast, responsive and trouble-free.

I've played a lot of flight sims and this one joystick I bought years ago, like 1994 and used it till 2003 when it finally died. Since I've had nothing but nightmares seems the spring mechanisms spoiled me for other brands which don't last as long and have calibration nightmares such as the Logitechs and Saiteks I've bought since. Time to buy another CH, didn't see them on the market for a while I thought they might be gone.

I purchased my first CH flightstick Pro in 1994. It finally gave out on me in the summer of 2002. I am a hardcore flight sim junkie and spend many hours doing simulated flights. This joystick gave me 8 years of reliable flight time on an assortment of various flight simulators. I do have other joysticks too, however I can not emphasize enough what an enormous value this joystick has. I definitely would recommend this rugged and dependable joystick to anyone in the market who wishes to spend a little more money and get much more in value.

I have tried a couple different joysticks including wingman attack 3 and some other popular ones. My logitech joystick were never stable and needed calibrating every hour and they ended up with dead zones soon. i decided to go saitek and bought the ST220 dirt cheap and im surprised. This joystick is certainly the best bang for your buck but it has flaws. First of all there is no resting place for your thumb on the top. Another problem is that the stick squeaks. so you have to keep lubricating it. other than that it is an accurate and smooth joystick which also seems rugged.

I take my fun very seriously so when it came time to evaluate the latest crop of game controllers on the market, I did a lot of web research first. After exhausting the resources of every review site I could find, I ended up buying the Logitech Wingman Extreme Gamepad. Most sites seemed to like it so the next step was to try this "G-Force Tilt" gizmo for myself.

Even at the very end of its wire, there is thoughtful design - you can use it in either the USB or sound card game port thanks to the included USB/gameport adapter. Software installation is as simple as it gets. After a quick reboot, I was prompted to plug in the gamepad. It was instantly recognized by Windows 98 and I was soon witnessing first-hand the fluid tilt mechanism behaving just like a joystick in the properties window. You simply hold the pad in your hands and tilt it left, right, forward or back to achieve analog movement along the X and Y axis. In this mode, the gamepad's D-pad works like an 8 position "hat" switch - very useful in flight (and some driving) sims. If you prefer it to act like a regular digital gamepad, you simply deactivate it by pressing the "sensor" button. A little top-mounted light turns from green to red and the tilt mechanism is off - giving you accurate and quick digital X/Y axis control with the D-pad.

This tilt mechanism is more than mere novelty. It feels like you're operating an invisible joystick - and it's extremely easy and intuitive to use in driving and flight simulations! When you're flying a plane and you want to pull up, what's more natural than tilting your gamepad's nose up? You get the feeling that you're holding a model of your plane in your hands and that it obeys and copies every move you make with it. Driving is no different - you feel like you're holding a free-floating steering wheel in your hands. If you want, you can assign gas to the "nose down" and brake to the "nose up" movement or, to either of its TEN buttons (including two triggers). The included software allows you to configure button controls for any of your installed games - including the abilty to "map" keyboard commands (or strings of keyboard commands) to each of the 10 buttons and D-pad. Once saved, your game "profile" will automatically load onto the gamepad when you launch the specific game it's set for. This is something that other game controller manufacturers (Microsoft, for one) can't do - they force you to first open their profile software and manually choose which game you're about to play to load the profile BEFORE you start that particular game. With Logitech's software, it's a no-brainer. No profiles to manually load or unload.

The controller is exceptionally light (much lighter and more streamlined than the Gravis Xterminator it replaced in my home) and very comfortable to hold. All buttons are within easy reach of my thumbs (with my average-to-small sized hands) and the triggers underneath are naturally where my index fingers would want them. Some review sites out there say it took them a while to get used to the tilt feature and gave it lower marks for that reason - but even my two kids (11 and 7 years old) got the hang of driving Need for Speed III with this thing almost instantly. When I showed them how to deactivate the tilt so they could use it as a regular gamepad, they immediately wanted the tilt re-engaged - it's that much more fun! Banking and moving the controller to get your game character (or car or plane) to move is not only natural (ever watch someone using a regular controller and see them lean into a turn?) but adds that much more of an immersive quality to any game. You can even switch the tilt feature on and off in the middle of game play! It really feels like you're the one doing the controlling now - not D-pad or a joystick.

I highly recommend this gamepad to anyone who plays a variety of game styles on their PC. While a dedicated joystick might give you a couple more options (like analog rudder and throttle controls), this thing's G-Force Tilt mechanism will fly just fine. While a steering wheel and pedal set might duplicate the driving experience better, tilting your way through turns with this pad is surely the next best thing. And when it comes to sports and action games where quick, digital-quality input is required to survive, all you have to do is push the "sensor" button to deactivate the tilt behavior and you've got yourself a high-quality digital gamepad with 10 programmable, easy-to-reach buttons. The $40 I paid for it was money well spent. To make the deal even sweeter, I found it bundled with a full version of Tony Hawk 2 - easily worth almost $40 by itself! My kids now have a gamepad for their games and I (thanks to the tilt feature) have a built-in, invisible joystick with plenty of buttons plus a hat switch for my games : )

This stick requires some practice. The left hand works five buttons plus a throttle and a directional pad. The right hand work two buttons, a rocker switch, and a directional hat.

The ergonomics are great overall. The gentle swoop for the left hand accomodates many hand sizes. The stick has a generous rest at the base. My one complaint is that the angle between the two sections is fairly acute. This in turn forces me to bring my elbows closer together than I like. I do, however, have broad shoulders; this may not be an issue for everyone.

The notable omission from this stick is a twisting stick. I'm glad it's not there, but don't be surprised.

This stick tries to be an all-around joystick--suitable for mech sims, flight sims, and FPSs. It pulls it off better than any other stick I have used.

When I tried to get support, it took a week to get a response. Their response did not solve the problem. My impression was that they did not really care. I have two Joysticks at home, Saitek Cyborg 3D stick and Wingman Interceptor. I like the Interceptor better because in flight simulators its better. Yet not in civil simulations (like Flight simulator 2000) its better in military simulations (like USAF or Flancer 2.0). The only bad things is that twist handle isn't availible and it only fits for right handed people. It could also be confusing with multiple switches but nothing is perfect.

Logitech Is a company that seems to have killed off most if not all of its competitors in terms of wheels, since Microsoft decided to stop production of its sidewinder steering wheel line. But the fact is, this wheel, while very good is not their best. The main reason for this is its age. The Logitech WingMan Formula Force GP Wheel, try say that fast 5 times, Is ,in computer years, about as up to date as your gand fathers old 1975 AMC Pacer. So why is this such a big deal? Well, there were a few problems, in terms of quality and functionality, that would need to be corrected. These corrections do not appear on this wheel.

To start with, the wheel it self feels light and plastic. It is easy to grip and feels comfortable, but it also feels like it could break if moved to suddenly. The wheel does give good feed back and seems to react to every little effect right down to hitting little rocks in the rode.

The pedals are plastic and seem a little to easy to break! Jamming on the gas too hard a the wrong moment will cause it to crack. Holding it down with force can also cause this to happen. Another major issue that affects these pedals is the phone line jack type connector that connects and locks the wire in to the wheel it self. It is easy to break and does its job of holding the wire in place to well. I had the misfortune of having this wire fall on the gas pedal just before I slammed down the gas, this, needles to say, ripped wire out of the phone line jack connector rendering the pedals useless. And dont think you can just run down to your local electronic store and replace it, the connector is smaller then a standard phone connecter and dose not seem to be available anyware. I have had to replace several of these wheels because of the pedals failing in one way or another.

This wheel also lack something that was very highly noted in its early days, A shifter. The only way to shift gears is to use the small paddles on the backs of the left and right spokes. The paddles really dont give that good a sense of feed back.

For the price you pay, you get an ok wheel, but why would one by this wheel when the much improved MOMO wheel also from Logitech, which dose have a shifter, can be found for not much more.

"Adequate (barely) and dramatically inferior to its predecessor" 2005-11-04

I used a Wingman Formula Force for about 4 years, and it was a superb wheel that excelled in every game I used it with. These included the Need for Speed series (particularly Porsche Unleahsed) and the Colin McRae Rally series. When the potentiometers in the pedals began to behave erratically causing sudden and unpredictable changes in the amount of throttle pedal that the wheel would indicate, I attempted to replace it.

Unfortunately, the Formula Force is no longer available, being replaced instead by the Formula Force GP. The Formula Force GP (which was shipped to me by mistake by a vendor claiming to sell the original Formula Force) is a much cheaper wheel, and it shows in every aspect of its performance.

For one, the wheel uses a gear driven system instead of a cable driven system, and this limits the responsiveness of the wheel when continuously varying biasing force is needed, for instance, when the force on the wheel is intended to communicate the slip angle of the front wheels.

In addition, the gear-driven system produces a lot of inertia in the wheel and that inertia interferes with the feedback coming through the wheel. It also causes the wheel to have a perceived resisting feedback, even when the wheel should not be resisting your motion.

The pedals are adequate and have a good, progressive response, but they lack any grip surface on the bottom, or sufficient space on the side to use your left foot to brace the base of the pedals in position (both features on the original Formula Force). If you are using them on a surface other than carpet, they will tend to slip away from you.

The wheel provides two "paddles" and four buttons, the same as the previous model Formula Force, but the "paddles" are actually small buttons on the back of the wheel that are much harder to reach when quick reflexes are desired, or if you are attempting to operate the paddles while the wheel is turned significantly. Also, two of the four buttons are positioned at an angle that is awkward for your thumbs to reach.

In short, this is a passable wheel and pedal set, and for the money, may not be a bad choice. However, compared to the original Formula Force wheel from Logitech which it replaces, this wheel is a serious disappointment. If you can find an original Formula Force, or a Formula Force Momo from Logitech, they are better constructed and better performing products.

I bought this back in the days of Windows 98 and the controller never worked. This is before the simplicity of USB ports and I had to attach this piece of junk to the back of my computer. A lot of us don't keep the backing for our computer boxes easily accessible and this thing takes a lot of work to simply plug in, along with the screws to keep it in place. The setup cd never worked and I couldn't download any drivers from the site. This particular controller in particular had it's own complex driver that was not easily found on Gravis's site. It's amazing to see how far technology's come with the look of some simple looking Logitech controllers compared to this bulky monstrosity. I think I've finally had enough therapy to come back to a gamepad for my computer, but I just had to review this piece of crap for closure. Keep on gaming!

I purchased two of these controllers back in the fall of 1997 for $35 each new. At the time few people were using USB for games, but it was no problem to daisy chain two of them together via the Gameport connectors on the back of my PC. The software for them is easy to use, though for a short time (I think in late 1999) there was a delay in getting an update for the system to work on Windows 2000. The software has long since been discontinued, but can still be found online.

The software lets you completely configure the buttons (even if the original games didn't have joystick support). You can also create multiple profiles for your games, so that each game has a different setup, plus a generic setup for everything. Sometimes the software bugs out with two controllers connected though, and requires Windows to be restarted and/or the connectors checked before it will recognize the second pad. At least that was my experience...

The controller itself has two analog "flippers" a throttle slider, a POV "hat" switch (a tiny one), an analog thumb "stick," digital command cross (movement pad), hot switch button (that can also just substitute as a generic action button), six main action buttons, two additional action buttons (which I like to use as "start/select" in console emulated games), plus still two more "flipper" digital buttons on the bottom. So that's over 11 buttons for you to use, meaning it will be compatible with most games. About the only games this isn't very good for are First Person Shooters made after about 1995 (when they started adding "Free Look" to the gameplay), since you'd have a cumbersome task moving and aiming at the same time while switching weapons, etc. For that you'd want a pad that has dual analog sticks on both sides of the interface, though everyone knows the best way to play such games is with a keyboard and optical mouse, anyhow!

After about eight years, one of the plastic joints holding the cord to the base of one of the controllers cracked. I secured it with electrical tape, but eventually it pulled away from the controller, exposing the wires. It still works fine, but I worry about severing the cords accidentally. Additionally I spilled some liquid on one of the analog "flippers" and so it "snaps" when pressed (but still registers properly), and probably needs to be opened up and cleaned. The other controller seems as good as the day it was purchased. Since I alternate using the controllers (I bought two for 2 player games), I'd say each one has had about 3.5 years of near continuous use.

The analog stick on this is not quite as good as on the Dreamcast controller, but it is still fairly good (and works the best on "four-way" type games or 3d games).

The ergonomics of the controller are great. My hands don't get tired even after using these for hours of gaming.

I like the way there are lots of buttons, including the familiar "six button" layout for fighting games, and all of the buttons are programmable. This is great for "old school" gamers like myself who like to use DOSBox and emulators to play old PC, arcade, and console classics. The feel of the controller is reminiscent of the Dreamcast, Playstation and so forth, but with a better feel than all of them.

The only downside for modern gamers for this controller is the lack of "vibration." I always thought this was a fairly useless gimmick, but a few games have a little more novelty to them with the feature, so I guess you'll be missing out on that. However if you're like me and realize that most games don't use it, and it's not that important on a gamepad (maybe on a steering wheel or flight stick), this isn't a big con.

I would highly recommend this pad for any old school gamers out there, and if you can track down the proper software, it can play any of your old games, ESPECIALLY if those games did not have a button configuration utility. Just map keystrokes, button presses, to your buttons and you're set!

i've tried a couple of things things before and Logitech proves, yet again, that they are the king of pointing devices. it's so much easier to setup, fits in your hands better, the buttons are better laid out and easier to configure. each button is clearly identified in the configuration window with an arrow; absolutely no guesswork involved. everything is customizable, including the amount of force the device gives back for the feedback. i'd give microsoft a C+ for their device while logitech clearly gets an A+.

Having tried a few force feedback sticks, there is absolutely no doubt doubt in my mind that this as the pick of the crop. The steel cable design means every little movement is transmitted to your hand with precision, and the effect strength can be set fron subtle to wrist jarring. The lack of a twist action may upset flight-sim fans wanting easy rudder control, and there is no doubt that while incredibly stable, this stick is huge and needs some serious desk space, but if you've got the room it's worth it. The motors are almost silent, and with no cooling fan internally the stick is very refined and quiet until the action starts. The one weakness in my view in the omission of an on/off switch. Connecting via either USB or a free com port (the cable has bothe connectors on the end) it is easily set up ready for action. A real tooth rattling Goliath.

I've had lots of problems with it too. I also have had two, I'm on the second right now. It worked fine at first, then the rudder control... ermm.. "freezes" in one position.. not physically.. but whenever you go into a game, the rudder is constantly "pulled" one way.. only way to fix it is to disable it in the game.. I played like that with the first one for a while, then it broke.. I mean the stick broke off the rest.. kind of annoying. The same rudder problem has just started occuring on my new one now. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

I have had two of these controllers, and both have failed in the same fashion. Support is non-existant unless you make the toll call to this company on their time, 9-5 EST. The handle twist function breaks for no apparrent reason. I only got an answer after making a long-distance call to their support center. No response from their support page.
Problem is, when it works, it works very well. You need to download a beta patch if you run Win XP, but that worked great! Again, it's a problem with their hardware. So, beware. It will work just fine...for a little while. I guess I'm going to buy a more reliable stick. Once is a fluke, twice is a problem, and I'm not willing to see what happens on the third try.

This joystick is terrible. I bought it primarily for Fighter Ace II and so far I have gone through 2 and the the third is in the mail. Apparently they have some sort of design problem where the rudder control actually breaks! This is not a software issue. While Gravis' customer service has been very happy to keep sending me replacements, enough is enough. I would highly recommend purchasing another controller.

I got this game pad about 4 years ago (07-2007, now) around $8 and I've used it exclusively for SNES emulation with zsnes. It does okay. Currently I'm finding that the placement of the buttons is a bit off and I often hit two keys at once. I did not have this problem nearly as badly when I first bought it as I am now. Despite appearances, The arrow pad is not analog and the little joy stick sticking out of it is detachable and has a clever but clumsy slot between the two handles to store it. I STRONGLY discourage anyone from buying this product for even mildly serious gaming. It's hardly acceptable for SNES emulation and could be adequate NES emulation.

I've tried quite a few joysticks and ended up recalibrating them over and over again. This Thrustmaster is by far the best one I have used and is easily recognized by Windows XP as soon as it's plugged in. The calibration is right on and it works extremely well with all of my flight simulators. All the buttons can be assigned easily to fit your comfort zone. It also is very stable on a table which makes it an ease to control. I'm right handed so I'm not sure of how a left handed person would do with this joystick, to me it's made for a right handed individual. For the money this is a great joystick.

The Blackhawk joysticks are the most comfortable sticks in a persons' hand. The right-side of the joystick has a molded piece of plastic that cradles your hand. All the other sticks have some sort of hand support but the Blackhawk has the best. You may want your fancy buttons and triggers but the question you must ask is "Do I want fancy buttons and hand cramping or do i want a joystick that feels like it's made for my hand?" I bought this joystick because I didn't want to spend $100 on of that force-feed back joysticks and I'm glad. I'm left handed and when I purchased this I was told that it was one of the few that will switch to fit the left hand. For that alone it disserves props, but it also has a throttle and that makes for great speed control. The point of view hat is great for the WWII game I use; it allows me to check my tail when before I couldn't and that caused many deaths.

Saitek comes out of the box set up for right-handers it's very easy to adjust any part of the stick. Watch for small parts while you're adjusting the joystick. The adjustment is fairly easy. Every part is secured by a bolt. In order to adjust a part, you'll need to unscrew it, adjust the part, and replace the screw. The joystick components are very well made, with a strong sturdy feel durring play. The shape of the joystick is symmetrical down the middle. Large hands won't be cramped, and small hands won't be stretched. This stick is called "Cyborg 3D" is because it has 3D Twist control like the MS Sidewinder. The stick is connected to the base by a metal spring, which bends as the stick is twisted. The connection cord is around 6 feet long

I was given this joystick from a friend and it works great!! True, it is a BASIC stick with no software, but all I did was plug it in, told the computer it was a two button with three axis, calibrated the stick by following the directions from XP and I was flying 5 minutes (3 was for the computer to reboot). I'm left handed so it is a pain to fly right handed or work the throttle across the front of the stick with my right hand and fly lefthanded.

I've owned mine for well over three years now, and it still produces the same quality of gameplay as it did when I first bought it. Simple and easy to use, I'd definitely recommend this to those new to joystick-controlled games, or to anyone that just doesn't feel the need to spend a lot of money. Though there are some other low-priced joysticks out there that have more buttons on them, none will last as long as this one. So if it's durability and low cost you're after, look no further.

I used this joystick on an older computer that had a standard gamport. Most computers sold today do not come with a standard gameport anymore, but you can get an adapter, or some video cards come with them, and you can buy a PCI card that has just the gameport. It stood up well, overall. I used it for about three years, and in the last year the base of the joystick became very loose, but it still held up with most games as long as I kept it callebrated. All of the buttons worked well, and the throttle. If you have a gameport, and need a stand-by joystick, this will work. Otherwise, you will want to look for a better USB joystick.

I really liked my old Sidewinder 3D Pro, but it's become a problem getting the new operating systems to recognize it on the still great but aging Creative Live Drive gameport. I've lusted for the Saiteks. So I got this wireless one to continue uncluttering my desk. I'm tall and have big hands, so I thought an adjustable one would be cool.

Beefs:

1. It had a dead stick button out of the box. In searching for another controller, I've noticed others Saitek reviewers had dead button problems. A switch with wires is not rocket science folks.

2. I tried it with the games I'm playing and no amount of adjustment made using it comfortable. If my hands were half again as large, maybe. Who user tests this stuff?

3. Throttle is hard to use where it is.

I sent it back and got a refund.

The "any but Saitek quest" goes on.

I'm a long time user of the Cyborg line of joysticks. So when it came time to get a new one I decided on this model because the wireless feature. Which ill go into in a moment.

The first thing i noticed after taking it out of the box was the size of the USB adapter. It basically takes up 2 slots it's so big. I stuck the software disk in only to be told it dosnt support Windows Vista. I had to go to Saiteks website to download the drivers and the keymapper program which isnt made very well I might add.

After getting everything installed I put it to work. I was shocked by how large the dead zone is, you have to almost move the entire stickto the limit of it's axis to get it to move in a game. I've spent hours trying to tweak this issue with limited success. X3 The Reunion performing the best but i think that was mainly because of there joystick configuration option they built into the game. another problem I've had is latency. Sometimes the response times are a bit low and seems to lag behind. Which obviously is bad for any game you would be using this for.

The sleep mode this joystick has is also very annoying. It will shut itself off if not used every seemingly 10 minutes or less. Turning it bacl on will not reestablish connection, you have to remove the battery and put it back in. This only works about 50% of the time.

Despite all these flaws when it does work it works well, but for me isnt worth all the headaches it's caused. I'm already looking for a new joystick and I suggest you just forget about this thing and do the same.

I like the wireless version of this controller for the obvious reason of not having to plug in the old one and deal with another cable laying around. As read in other reviews, the stick does have a problem "waking up" for play time. I found that it was better to just take out the battery when not in use and then put it back in after I load up a new flight. Overall response is good and I have not noticed any unintentional movements or episodes of lost control as mentioned in other reviews. If you like the old evo stick then you will be happy with this one too.

It's possible that the problem was with this specific unit, but the joystick was subject to frequent disconnections apparently tied to RF interference. Despite changing the joystick's channels and using numerous alternate batteries, as well as removing most interfering devices away (really, only 3 nearby items transmitting on the 2.4 gHz range), the stick still proved to be too intermittent. Subsequent purchase of the Logitech equivalent proved to be more stable, without any interference.

This is a shame, too, as the stick was built beautifully. It certainly has a superior throttle control to the Logitech, as well as a great layout and overall construction quality. The Saitek software works quite well, and the profiler was easy to use. The movement on the stick was also quite solid, being superior, in fact, to the overly light touch required for the Saitek X52.

This is a great stick. I used it for DC final and now use it for BF2. I have friends that have all kinds of problems with there sticks but not a issue here. I'm shooting all kinds of people out of the air with the joy stick.

The only thing that doesn't work is the blue light. I'm using XP as my OS.

I owned one of the first of this type to come out years ago. Loved it then, and was very pleased to see that the over all design didn't change. I like force feedback when I play games I feel it adds more realism and that is the whole point. It also makes games more challenging once they are played out. This Joystick seems to apply more force than the standard 3d force feedback wingman model, and it has the scroll on the base and other features you can see listed in the specifications.

On the other hand, I know people who do not like force feedback at all and hate the joystick. So I think it is important to clarify the difference between a dislike with force feedback in general or a problem with this joystick in particular. Because I like Force Feedback in games, for me this joystick does everything it should and feels comfortable enough to use without being a distraction.

In conclusion, If you have never tried FF, I would buy a cheaper one and see if you like your games with it, but for those who are replacing or upgrading from another FF joystick, I think the improvements in this model are worth checking out.

I bought this stick with great expectations and was really disappointed. I'll try to be informative.
- Stick is too loose, even with power to the stick. Too much play before the stick actually registers movement.
- Tried increasing tension of stick with the utility and it doesn't help.
- The effects were solid, but once again making any accurate/fine movements with the stick is impossible.

Maybe this would be a good supplemental stick, I don't think it's fit for duty as your main gaming stick. I ended up with a Sidewinder Precision Pro 2. Now that's a good stick.

Sorry Logitech, I love your keyboard, but your joystick leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I picked up the stick to do a little flying in Battlefield 1942 (BF). Now, given that BF could use a little more spit and polish in the joystick support department, the WingMan Strike Force 3D didn't meet my expectations.

It installed quickly and easily, no problems there. When I finally got around to the calibration phase, the stick seemed a bit loose and would pull to the left. I thought I could compensate by trying to calibrate so it would read the pull as the center, right? Wrong. Once I fired up BF, I was constantly having to compensate by pulling the stick to the right, which would throw off my ability to turn right (imagine flying a two engine plane with one engine out).

Needless to say, it's going back to the store tomorrow morning. I'll opt for a non-force feedback system for now (alot of the BF players have been complaining about not getting their Force Feedback sticks to work). I've heard good things about Microsoft's Precision Pro (non-Force Feedback), and even Logitech's WingMan Extreme 3D (non-Force Feedback). Until I can sock away [$$$] for the Thrustmaster HOTAS Cougar, I'll keep trying to find a moderately priced stick that works well (I don't think that's too much to ask).

I suppose I should also note, that when I was out looking at sticks earlier in the day, I noticed that a few of the WingMan's rubber boots around the stick and the base were starting to crack.

Oh, one last thing, at the time of my writing this ..., Amazon has the wrong WingMan pictured. The Strike Force 3D has a wheel (similar to your mouse's wheel) off to the left side, with a button on both sides.

I bought this same flight force stick from eBay, but its the same thing. I didn't know if it would work correctly. I bought it for my cousin as a gift. As soon as I recieved it, we tried it out and worked just like it should. You plug it into the USB slot on your PS2 and it works fine.

P.S. we played it with Ace Combat.

Blame the game developers for not programming their games to use the joystick. I have a lot of fun with Airforce Delta Strike using the stick, and I find it tragic that no other PS2 flight sim supports it... or any flight stick for that matter. I can't guess as to why, but I suppose all my other flight sims will be played on a PC (anybody want a copy of Ace Combat 4?). At least I know that no one will be trying to get this stick from me, since it's pretty difficult to find the only game you can play with it... and no, I won't be parting with mine!

To start with why make a joystick that will only work on 2 games (Flight Force or Airforce Delta Strike-from KONAMI)???

I thought that the name of the joystick was called Flight Force Force Feedback Joystick, I did not know it was referring to

a game that it was made for. Logitech has used deceptive advertising to sell this joystick making it look like it would work on any forced feedback games. Just go on Google and look at the reviews and you will see what I mean. I called Logitech

three times before I got a straight answer. I cannot tell you how good it worked I sent it back twice thinking it was

defective,if you like these two games then you're in luck they made a joystick just for you.

I am relatively new to the world of gaming, whether it be regular video games or computer based. I use sophisticated computers on a daily basis, but only came into the video gaming arena since my young children have become interested. I purchased not one, but two Sony Playstation 2's for the kids (well, actually one was for me downstairs on the big screen TV). I was impressed by the technology, the graphics and the possibilities of hours of enjoyment for my kids and myself. We developed an interest in trying flight simulations, so I felt, based on reviews and information contained in periodicals, magazines and on-line, that a joystick with almost real-to-life features would add to the enjoyment of flight/combat simulation, both for kids and adults.

Looking through different media to make a selection, I noticed the reviews and descriptions of Logitech products. I was immediately hooked - LOGITECH, a well known, reputable, quality product producing corporation, who's products I have used over the years and thoroughly enjoyed. I continued to research the joysticks and discovered that they provide a large line of similar products for computer and Sony Playstation 2 gaming. I made my first purchase of the Logitech "Flight Force, Force Feedback Joystick" for PLAYSTATION 2, on-line with Best Buy (that was the only place I could originally find it, since independent gaming stores and the Best Buy location did not stock it.)

When I finally received the Logitech joystick, it looked impressive, seemed well made/robust, with all the bells and whistles, but that was all. I followed the instructions, plugged it into not one, but both of my Playstation 2's, using both flight simulation games/programs and others, with NO response.

After numerous tries, I called Logitec Techinical Support. The tech immediately stated, after understanding that the unit purchased was for Playstation 2 and not computer, that I should return the joystick for a refund or replacement because it was "apparently defective" since there was no response in the games while using the unit. The joystick was returned, at which point I made the assumption that the "defective" unit I received was just a fluke. Before I decided to buy another Logitech joystick, I re-read all the material I used for the original research, found additional information, and learned that the unit would work with games that "support(ed) Flight Force Feedback" through the Sony Playstation 2.

Retailers, the Logitech guy, and game store personnel told me that the unit should work fine, that it was one of the "best" in the field, and that it would operate with any or most games used on Sony Playstation 2 (they may have been referring to the Logitech Flight Force 3D units for computers). The box of the original unit I received said "for Playstation 2".

So, I bought another one on-line, but this time through Amazon.com. When it arrived the same thing happened (or should I say, nothing happened as before). I called Logitech again, spoke to a different technical person, who demanded that I provide her with the previous investigation/case number (I was not provided one during the previous call). She took all my "personal history" before realizing that there was no information pertaining to my original complaint in her computer system. She then went on to suggest that I was mistaken about the type of unit, what gear it was compatible with and the location of the part number. After she realized that she did not know what to do for me, she put me on hold - for a long time, I might add. When she returned, she began to argue and insist that the unit in question was for computer, not Playstation 2. Eventually, she realized her error (did not admit it), put me on hold again, and upon her return, essentially stated that the unit would not work with the Playstation 2 or ANY program or game, save one, although SHE DID NOT KNOW WHAT IT WAS. She put me on hold again, and upon her return, was unable to give me the name of a SINGLE game with which the unit would work (this after "polling" other employees in her immediate area).

I did some additional research after that useless telephone call to Logitech and discovered that the one game it will work with is "Airforce Delta Strike" by Konami. Most, if not all reviews of that game indicate that it is a piece of junk and a waste of money. That means that the Logitech joystick to which I am referring works only on ONE game, and it SUCKS. Why even buy this piece of crap? I got the impression that Logitech personnel (and the corporation) are resting on their laurels and feel that they can pass off junk to the consumer based on their previous reputation. They come off as being smug and treat the consumer as if he is ignorant and has no recourse. Well, just wait - eventually, they will go the way of other companies that adopt this attitude.

If it were not for the fact that Amazon.com is a reputable company and has a reasonable return policy, I would be very upset. Actually, I still believe that Logitech produces quality products in other areas, and I would still buy some/other products from their company, but the "bait and switch" thing really burns me up. They intentionally do not STRONGLY inform the customer that this product only works on ONE GAME, and the game itself is a bad and unsatisfying product. Why would they make a product that only works with one game? It would make more sense if it worked with other Playstation 2 games, or could be used with computers and their games. Guess what: It IS NOT compatible with computer platforms or programs!

I sincerely hope that anyone who wants to play flight simulations on a Playstation 2 system does not get caught-up in this revolving waste of time. Consumer - Be aware!

Although I ultimately hated it, I will say that this style of controller is quite a bit more usable than the standard PS2 dual shock for flying. You get stable set-and-forget throttle control, and one hand controls all 3 axes of motion. But it's plug and *almost* play -- it is severely out of calibration by default and requires recalibration every time you power cycle the game machine. After just a few hours of play the cheap internal trimpots got tired and I started getting unsmooth/erratic motion over the full range, making calibration a frustrating and finally impossible task. Also the stick has a huge amount of play that isn't helped a lot with center position calibration. For the price I didn't expect a lot but the unsmooth motion was a big disappointment. Bottom line, I will not be wasting my time on a flight stick from this price/quality level in the future!

This is a real good joystick, however, it locks-up sometimes. During a game like Combat Flight Simulator, you can move your joystick but the game doesn't read the movements. You are basically stuck going the same direction. It is real good for racing but not for simulator flying games.

You get what you pay for. This is very easy to install as the drivers are inside the stick so its very easy to install. It then works for about 3-5 minutes before getting hosed up to the point where you cannot move. Makes a nice paper-weight.

I got this joystick for X-mas, and I loved it. It was really comfortable. But then I was racing with it, not doing any hard turns or anything like that, and I hear this "Snap!" And then it gets all loose. I asked my brother and he said a spring had broken. And I wasn't even doing any thing rough with it! Kind of strange. Maybe I should have rated it less, becuase it doesn't have a hat, can't twist and only has 4 buttons (plus the little precision button). Not to mention the fact that it's a piece of junk now, it won't work any more. OK, I guess maybe I just got a defective one, but still, I would buy something of better quality.

Altho this joystick is made by gravis it is one of the company's low end/low price items, and not worth the money unless you use it for kindeling. All in all this joystick is a piece of garbage to be hammered apon!
